Arrival in Palermo Airport and transfer by private coach to the hotel. Free time for dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. Walking tour of Palermo to visit the historical center from a different point of view. See the main monuments (Cathedral, Palatine Chapel in the Royal Palace or Norman Palace) together with the tasting of typical street food products of which Palermo is among the most renowned cities in the world. Lunch in a local typical restaurant. In the afternoon, excursion with a minibus to Monreale for the visit of its splendid Cathedral covered of golden mosaics, the most extended in the world after Santa Sofia in Istanbul and San Marco in Venice. Visit of the next Benedictine Cloister. The Arab-Norman route in Palermo and Monreale with its monuments is the last UNESCO heritage recognized in Sicily. Free dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Cefalù, enchanting small village on the sea that offers a beautiful artistic view of colors and lights. Visit of the impressive “Norman Cathedral” (UNESCO heritage) which dates back to 1131. Then proceed to Piazza Armerina. Lunch in a local farm based on typical Sicilian products and tastings of local wines. Visit of the marvelous “Villa Romana del Casale” with its perfectly preserved mosaics. (UNESCO heritage). Departure to Catania, Free dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Mount Etna, the highest still active european volcano (3.345 meters) and UNESCO heritage : the coach will arrive up to “Rifugio Sapienza” at about 1.800 meters. Free visit of the famous Silvestri Craters, now extinct. Along the route, it is possible to admire wonderful variety of landscapes. During the centuries, the volcano has created a place where nature, culture and history merge together to create a unique place in the world. It is also possible to climb by cable car and/ or a 4×4 coach, up to 2.800 meters (with a supplement of about € 65,00 p.p.). Lunch in a farm-house with wine tasting and local products. After lunch, proceed to Taormina, the enchanted pearl of Sicily. Free time to visit the Greek theater, to have a walk among the beautiful little streets and for shopping. Return to Catania, free dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we visit the picturesque fish market of Catania to admire the colors and tradition of shouting to sell fish. Although early in the morning, it will be possible to have a tasting of fried fish served in the typical “coppo”. Stop at the main square with the cathedral and the monument of the elephant, symbol of the city. Proceed to Noto, landmark of the Sicilian Baroque (UNESCO heritage). Free time to visit the town and continue to Siracusa. Lunch in a local restaurant in the island of Ortigia, original centre of the Corinthian founders of the city, treasure of barock art. In the afternoon visit of Ortigia with the Cathedral and the wonderful archaeological area including the famous “Latomie del Paradiso”, the Dionysius “Ear”, the Greek Roman theater and the amphitheatre (UNESCO heritage). Free Dinner and overnight at hotel in Syracuse.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Calascibetta to visit a farm that produces cheese. We have the opportunity to see the production phases and to have lunch in a typical rural context. A very unique experience! Then continue to Agrigento to visit to the famous “Valle dei Templi” (Valley of Temples) of Agrigento, which was one of the greatest cities of the ancient Mediterranean world, and it has been preserved in an exceptionally intact condition. The archaeological park contains one of the greatest treasures of Greek still existing. The Doric temples, built in tuff sandstone, are still worth to be seen today. The color of the temple’s changes from deep yellow to pink during the sunset. The Valley of the Temples is a World Heritage Site (UNESCO) since 1997. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
After breakfast, departure to Marsala to visit a historic winery with a tasting of typical Marsala wine known all around the world. From Marsala we reach Trapani through the typical salt road with the panoramic view of the salt lakes with its beautiful windmills. Lunch in a farmhouse with a particular menu including the typical “Cous-cous” an Arab dish transformed by Sicilian cuisine with a very delicious fish dressing.
From Trapani we can reach Erice by cable car. This small medieval town on top of the mountain overlooks the city of Trapani, its port, the characteristic salt pans and the Egadi islands in the background.
Time at leisure to visit the beautiful “Chiesa Madre”, the gothic cathedral and to walk through the medieval streets, before to have a last tasting of typical almond-sweets. In late afternoon we arrive in Palermo, free dinner and overnight at hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Palermo airport for departure. End of our services.
