South Africa is one of the most breath-taking countries in the world. Landscapes vary from tropical beaches to rugged mountains and bushveld, offering a unique diversity of experiences. Cape Town has become a coveted destination for its world-class restaurants, iconic wine farms, and majestic mountains. De Hoop is a nature-lovers paradise, a place to rest in silent exclusion. Plettenberg Bay boasts dense vegetation, a litany of adventure sports, and great beaches with warm water. Garonga Safari Camp is located in the private Makalali Nature Reserve, offering the privilege of seeing wildlife without the crowds typical of Kruger National Park.
There is so much to see in South Africa that the country warrants a visit of at least two weeks or more. If you only have a limited time, we created a highlighted ‘Classical’ style itinerary. We have curated a collection of the most stylish, intimate, and authentic lodges and villas in South Africa to create a bespoke experience normally reserved for locals “in the know.”

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast. A driver will collect you to reveal the hidden secrets of Cape Town, individually curated for your interests – art, food, history, culture, or craft. After a light lunch of gourmet ‘street food,’ your guide will take you to the bottom of Table Mountain where you take the cable car with picnic lunch enjoyed on the mountain top with champagne to celebrate the setting of the sun on your first day in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Return to Kensington Place, where you can walk to a restaurant or just stay in enjoying the views of the city lights for the night.
After an early breakfast, a private driver will collect you and take you on a scenic drive to Boulders Beach where you swim with penguins or go kayaking along the rugged coastline. Enjoy a walk all the way to the tip of Cape Point. On the way back, have an easy-going lunch at a seaside café. Take a tour of the incredible Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Evening tour of the craft bars in Cape Town. Overnight at a boutique hotel.
For dedicated wine lovers, enjoy a privately guided cellar tour and wine tasting. At a second, hand-picked farm, do a chocolate and wine pairing to discover the ways wine can bring out the unusual flavors in handcrafted chocolate. Drive outside of Franschhoek and enjoy a relaxed picnic under the shade of the willow trees next to a sparkling dam at Noble Hill. At the end of the long day, take a spa bath and rest for the evening at Babylonstoren Farmhouse.
A botanical guide will take you through the iconic gardens of Babylonstoren, followed by a tea ceremony. Have lunch at Babel Restaurant, a true farm-to-table dining experience in a stylish atelier. Enjoy a wine tasting at the tasting room, and if you still have energy explore further afield, or book a treatment at the incredible spa. Overnight Babylonstoren.
Take a beautiful drive along the back roads to the bustling coastal town of Hermanus. On arrival at Thatch House, the concierge of the lodge will sit with you to discuss the activities you wish to do while at the lodge.
You have the option to book a treehouse picnic, go kayaking, play tennis, swim, do a long beach walk, whale watching, hiking, or just sit back with a good book and enjoy the incredible views.
Drive into the incredibly peaceful De Hoop Nature Reserve. Settle in to your room overlooking the wild untouched coastline beyond. Go on an interpretive coastal walk, or spend the afternoon sandboarding before having drinks and snacks on the white sand dunes.
Spend the today enjoying further activity or just relaxing in the window seat soaking up the incredible views.
Venture into the Garden Route, the verdant southern coastline of South Africa. It’s optional to stop at the elephant orphanage. Enjoy an wine farm tour and tasting, then spend the afternoon swimming and resting at Emily Moon, or kayaking on the river.
Today explore the beaches of Plettenberg Bay, do one of the many adventures in the area, or walk amongst monkeys and birds at the local wildlife sanctuaries.
Drive to George and fly to Hoedspruit. At the airport, a guide from Garonga Safari Camp will transfer you to the camp, game driving part of the way. Settle into your room, enjoy dinner and relaxing with the endless quiet of the wilderness as your soundtrack.
Go out on a game drive in this relatively secluded conservancy, so wildlife viewing is less crowded and spectacular.
An afternoon bush walk is a great way of experiencing smaller wildlife and getting to know the intelligence of the ecosystem. Or take the option of doing a sleep out under the stars in your own private treehouse.
Take one last game drive and breakfast in the bush. After breakfast, a camp guide will take you back to the airport for your flight back to Cape Town. Depart on your internaitonal flight home.
