Momma-Mia! Have you been to Italy? Let me confide something to you… I travel all over the world and I pack as many protein bars in my bags as will fit! Most tourists add weight to their bags when they travel because they are buying souvenirs. My bags get lighter because I pack my own food!
I’ve even been known to take a big ol’ sized jar of peanut butter… TSA loves when they find that! Excuse me sir, is that a jar of peanut butter I see in your bag? Yes, creamy, not crunchy, is that a problem?
So why do I use up valuable weight for food? Because I’m from the South, don’t you remember?
And in Vietnam they have stuff they bring you on a plate and it’s still wiggling! And in Morocco, they go out and milk a camel then use that milk to make a drink that would take paint off a barn! And, I’m not even going to try to describe what you find at eateries in Mongolia or Botswana.
I learned a long time ago if I’m going to travel the world and survive I better bring my own food stash.
My biggest exception to this rule is ITALY! I can, and have, eaten my way through Italy. The three things I like most to eat in Italy are breakfast, lunch & dinner.
There, enough said!
So go for the incredible ruins, the unparalleled history, the fantastic culture but expect to enjoy your meals because those folks know how to cook! And the wine is supposed to be pretty good, too, but they don’t let me drink anymore so I can’t really say for sure.
Don’t let a picky palate keep you from experiencing the amazing experiences this world has to offer! If you’re worried, bring your own stash (except to Italy) and find yourself in places you’ll never forget!
What is being said here is true! Been there many times with the food problems. Good measure to take extra food supplements just in case.
Yeah, When you get to India and the Middle East everything starts crawling off your plate! 🙂
